The Student Startup and Innovation Policy (SSIP) supports student innovators and entrepreneurs with a grant of up to INR 2.5 lakhs. The programme is specifically designed to promote innovation and entrepreneurship among students. Innovative ideas in any sector holding potential for commercialisation are welcome.
At Ahmedabad University, VentureStudio - the startups incubation centre - will implement the SSIP, and interested students can apply any time of the year.
The selection process for SSIP proposals will take place once every three months. First, all the proposals received in the period of the last three months will be screened by the internal team at VentureStudio for basic eligibility criteria such as student team credentials, innovation and commercialisation potential. Post that, the most promising proposals/ teams will be shortlisted and invited for a presentation before a selection committee comprising Industry experts, faculty and the VentureStudio team. Teams that the committee selects will receive the SSIP support.
With a vision to empower the youth of the State unlock their creative potential through start-ups and innovations, the Government of Gujarat has launched the Student Start-up and Innovation Policy 2.0 (SSIP). The macro view is to encourage them to contribute to sustainable development and inclusive growth, which will help realise the goal of Aatmanirbhar Gujarat. Students who are aspiring entrepreneurs will be supported with drafting of student-led Proofs-of-Concept (PoCs/Prototype), Intellectual Property (IP) filings, nurturing of student-led innovations, guiding through the Srujan Seed Support fund, and more.
