ABSTRACT

Recent advancements in computing & technology have made systems & applications progressively more innovation driven. Unarguably, today’s innovation need to take a fresh perspective on a practical approach to transform ideas from the lab into marketplace realities. While agile and lean, a synonym for the “best, most useful method for the job” has been phraseology for contemporary technology development, the process of blending the innovation methods and remaining agnostic is quintessential to build and nurture innovation cultures. Taking examples from some of innovation that Saurabh has led in past, he will highlight an agnostic approach to Innovations. This interactive session aims to familiarize the participants with the professional discipline of innovation in corporate research labs within the context of two distinct real world application areas – HealthCare and Transportation.

Speaker Bio - Saurabh Srivastava is a Research Scientist & Manager, and the Area Leader of Human Interactions & Experience Design group in Conduent Labs – India (formerly Xerox Research Centre). He is responsible for end-to-end management of customer-focused innovations, in the areas of Human-Computer Interaction, Behaviour Modelling, Mobility and User Experience. He is currently leading several projects aimed to generate Behaviour Models by integration of classical HCI / Cognitive Psychology theories with Data Analytics & Machine Learning techniques. Prior joining Xerox, Saurabh led the User Experience Design & HCI research in IBM Research. A large body of his work focuses on creative uses of Information & Communication Technologies for the development of the marginalized & underserved populations. Saurabh is a member of ACM and active in several research communities where he has co-organized/co-chaired conferences, workshops and often serves on the organizing reviewing committees for key conferences in these areas. Over the length of his professional career, he has played a key role in over 15 user-centered innovation technologies, authored 40+ peer-reviewed research publications and holds 15+ filed/granted Patents. Saurabh has been named as "Innovators under 35" by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Tech Review for the year 2015, a prestigious global recognition for the works of many other eminent innovators such as Sergey Brin (co-founder, Google), Mark Zuckerberg (founder, Facebook), Jonathan Ive (Chief Designer, Apple) etc. He has been acknowledged as a "Leader of Tomorrow" by St. Gallen Symposium, Switzerland, serving as an advisor and mentor for the youth talent pool.
