Professor Shuja Ahmed is an Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering and Applied Science of Ahmedabad University. Before joining Ahmedabad University, Professor Ahmed worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Ropar, India. He earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering (with manufacturing as the area of specialisation) from Indian Institute of Technology Patna, India. Before his doctorate, he completed his BTech (Distinction) in Mechanical Engineering from Magadh University, Bodh Gaya, India.
Professor Ahmed’s research interests are in the advanced manufacturing processes focused on friction-based manufacturing/processing such as friction stir welding/processing, friction stir spot welding, friction stir additive manufacturing, and rotary friction welding, among others. From his research work, he has consistently published papers in high-impact journals and reputed conferences. He also serves as a reviewer for some famous journals in the field of manufacturing engineering, such as the Journal of Engineering Manufacture, High Temperature Materials and Processes, and others.
