Naresh Chandra Sharma has over 45 years of experience in aerospace, defence, and automotive industries related to the design, development, and manufacture of structural composites. He obtained his MTech in Design Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, followed by the Mastère en Techniques de l'Hélicoptère from The École Nationale Supérieure D‘Ingénieurs de Constructions Aéronautiques in Toulouse, France.

He started his career in 1977 with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bengaluru, where he served for 22 years, rising to the position of Chief Manager specialising in helicopter design. Later, he worked at TVS Motor Company, Hosur, as General Manager for Advanced Engineering, where he oversaw end-to-end activities encompassing concept development, design, manufacture, and testing of auto rickshaws (TVS-King). He has worked as Vice President for Composites and Aerospace at Bharat Forge, Pune, and as Head, Design and Engineering and Programme Management at Tata Advanced Materials, Bengaluru. He is currently an independent consultant to the aerospace and automotive sectors in the field of composite materials, while being associated with Ahmedabad University.

Professor Sharma has 3 patents to his credit and has published and presented a number of technical papers both at national and international forums.
