Srishti Sharma Receives SHODH Scholarship for Research on Creating a Framework for Modelling and Prediction of Athletic Game Performance and Injury Risk
Srishti Sharma, PhD Student in Engineering at the School of Engineering and Applied Science, has received the ScHeme Of Developing High Quality Research (SHODH) Scholarship for 2021-22 from the Education Department, Government of Gujarat. She is conducting research on creating a framework for modelling and prediction of athletic game performance and injury risk under the guidance of Mehul Raval, Professor, and Associate Dean, Experiential Learning at the School of Engineering and Applied Science.
Unlike other studies that try to predict an athlete’s game performance and risk of injury based on their past match statistics and past injury record respectively, Srishti’s research focuses on predicting game performance and injury risk based on the physical, physiological and cognitive state information of athletes. She says, “I believe this data collection methodology with a validated machine learning framework will help improve the performance of athletes while reducing the risk of injuries.”
