Committed to enabling an academic environment that prepares students for the future, Ahmedabad University has devised a unique pedagogical approach, blending hands-on research with advanced interdisciplinary coursework. This equips our graduates with critical thinking and foundational knowledge necessary to excel in their chosen fields worldwide.
Exhibiting these skills is our recent graduate Krishali Shah from the BS (Hons) in Physics programme, whose academic journey at Ahmedabad University is taking her from Ahmedabad all the way to Italy. She has secured admission to the University of Padua, where she will pursue her graduate studies in Astrophysics and Cosmology.
She will soon walk the same historic pathways as the renowned astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, an esteemed alumnus of the public research university. This institution secured the 4th position in Italy in both the 2024 Times Higher Education World University Rankings and QS World University Rankings. Furthermore, for 2023, U.S. News & World Report's Best Global Universities Rankings placed the University of Padua 1st in Italy, 43rd in Europe, and 115th globally.
For Krishali, the opportunity to engage in undergraduate research was a defining aspect of her experience. She highlights that advanced courses, such as General Relativity and Plasma Physics and Astrophysics, which are rarely offered at the undergraduate level elsewhere, were crucial to her preparation for graduate studies. Complementing her Physics major, a minor in Mathematics provided an essential solid foundation.
Krishali attributes her intellectual growth to Ahmedabad University's interdisciplinary approach, which encourages her to think outside the box and pushes her beyond her comfort zone. She credits her supportive faculty, resourceful campus, and friends for enabling her to transition to her next phase successfully.
