Four Ahmedabad University Faculty Named in Stanford’s 2026 World’s Top 2% Scientists Ranking

Stanford’s 2026 World’s Top 2% Scientists Ranking

From advancing disease prevention and deepening our understanding of the universe to informing climate policy and developing sustainable technologies, research at Ahmedabad University spans fields with far-reaching implications. Four faculty members have been named to Stanford’s World’s Top 2% Scientists list for 2026, recognising their research impact within their respective fields.

Compiled by researchers at Stanford University, the list uses standardised citation indicators to assess researchers’ scientific impact relative to others in their subfields.

Professor Shweta Agarwala, Professor and Associate Dean at the School of Engineering and Applied Science, works on green, flexible and printed electronics, as well as sustainable materials for healthcare devices. Her research explores how advances in electronics and materials can support more sustainable technologies and healthcare applications. Her research is classified under Enabling and Strategic Technologies, with Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and Applied Physics as key subfields.

Professor Pankaj Joshi, Distinguished Professor of Physics and Director of the International Centre for Space and Cosmology, studies black holes, gravitational collapse and spacetime singularities, advancing our understanding of some of the universe’s most fundamental phenomena. His research is classified under Physics and Astronomy, with Nuclear and Particle Physics and Fluids and Plasmas as key subfields.

Professor Kaumudi Joshipura, Dean of the Bagchi School of Public Health and Susmita and Subroto Bagchi Professor of Public Health, examines the links between oral health, diet, physical activity and cardiometabolic diseases. Her work focuses on translating research evidence into practical, no-cost and low-cost approaches to disease prevention. Her research is classified under Clinical Medicine, with Dentistry and Endocrinology and Metabolism as key subfields.

Professor Priyadarshi Shukla, Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Global Centre for Environment and Energy, works on energy-environment modelling, renewable technologies and climate policy analysis. His research contributes to understanding the choices and pathways involved in addressing energy and climate challenges. His research is classified under Enabling and Strategic Technologies, with Energy and Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences as key subfields.

Together, these faculty members represent research spanning public health, theoretical physics, climate and energy, and sustainable electronics. Their inclusion highlights the breadth of research at Ahmedabad University and its engagement with questions that matter across disciplines and around the world. Ahmedabad University congratulates the four faculty members on this achievement.
