Sharing Research Experiences at the ‘Coffee Together’ Session
The Graduate School organised a ‘Coffee Together’ session on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, where PhD students from all Schools at Ahmedabad University interacted with each other and shared their research experiences at the University. The two primary speakers were PhD students Brinky Desai and Moulie Ghosh. Brinky Desai, PhD student at the Ecology and Environment Lab, School of Arts and Sciences, said that pursuing a PhD was all about challenging yourself, learning, and achieving. She said, “It's been three years since I started my journey, and I've learned how to multitask between laboratory work and fieldwork. I've learned to write proposals and research papers. I also have two publications which is rewarding considering the effort and time these require. Not all days are happy and not all days are unhappy, but support from my supervisor and labmates has been constant over the past three years and I know it will always be constant.”
For Moulie Ghosh, PhD student, School of Engineering and Applied Science, the most important learnings were prior planning and time management, and the ability to face challenges in a positive way. “The prime challenge is that the result of your work may not always be fruitful. Research is all about having that one question ‘WHY’ in your mind. So figuring out the possible reason behind the failure of data and how to make that data work is an interesting task in research,” she said.
