Professor Parag Patel has about twenty five years of extensive experience in teaching, research, consulting and academic administration. Currently, he is the Senior Associate Dean of Amrut Mody School of Management at Ahmedabad University. Previously, he was the Associate Dean - Undergraduate Programmes from 2016-2022 and Director of HL Institute of Commerce for two years, from 2014-2016.
Professor Patel has held key positions at different organizations. He has been selected for a three-year term to the 15-member Associate Deans' (ADAG) Steering Committee of AACSB International, which includes those serving in key leadership roles at the school level with responsibilities in strategy, faculty qualifications, and assurance of learning/curriculum within 1700+ member business schools from across the globe. He is also the Vice Chairman of HL College Alumni Association, and has served as the Chairman of Education Committee of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), and Member of the Education Committee of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI).
Professor Patel is keenly interested in making a positive difference to the Education Sector and has advised HDFC Education and Development Services, a INR 1 billion education initiative of the financial giant HDFC Ltd as a senior consultant. He serves as a member of the Boards of Studies of KLE Technological University - SMSR, Karnataka and Atmiya University, Rajkot.
With an M.Phil. in Accountancy, PhD in Equity Investment Decisions from Gujarat University and a Faculty Development Programme in Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Business Innovation from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, Professor Patel brings his vast exposure of national and international education to transformative educational leadership. Apart from academics and education management, Professor Patel has a deep interest in the capital markets in general and equities in particular. He has been featured in numerous live TV shows as a Market Expert on various national channels.
Pioneering educational reformation and transformation with a holistic vision, Professor Patel wields significant influence in the constantly evolving education sector. The World Education Congress listed him as one of the "100 Most Influential Directors of India in Education" in June 2016. Professor Patel has also received Chairman's Award for "Leadership, Teamwork and Innovativeness" at Ahmedabad University.
Professor Patel has a rich teaching experience of over two decades during which he has taught a wide range of courses in Accounting and Finance at undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programmes.
Professor Patel is keenly interested in making a positive difference to Education Sector and has advised HDFC Education and Development Services (HEADS), an education initiative of the financial giant HDFC Ltd as a senior consultant. HEADS is a wholly owned Rs. 100 crores subsidiary of HDFC Ltd. Professor Patel was in the pioneering team of consultants that mainly worked on two initiatives; vocational education in financial services and K12 schools. The first three HDFC schools are operational in Gurgaon, Pune and Bangalore.
Professor Patel has served as the Chairman of FICCI's Education Committee and has also been a member thrice on GCCI and FICCI's Education and Skills Committee between 2014 and now.
Professor Patel has received an Award for “Leadership, Teamwork and Innovativeness” as the Chairman of Ahmedabad University Students Events and Activities Committee. He received this award from Dr VS Arunachalam during the AU Foundation Day ceremony in February 2013 at Ahmedabad.
Professor Patel was listed among the “100 Most Influential Directors in India - Education” by world Education Congress. He received a citation from Dr Indira Parikh, Founder Flame University in June 2016 at the ceremony in Mumbai.
