Dr Mita Suthar is an Associate Professor in Economics and Public Policy area. A gold medalist at master's level, she acquired her PhD in 2006, with a specialization in Macroeconometrics. Her research involved econometric modelling of Indian macroeconomic variables and an analysis of the monetary and credit policy of the Reserve Bank of India. Her later research involves works on macroeconomic volatility, foreign exchange rate determination, inflation targeting, productivity and growth issues in the industrial sector and developmental issues related to cultural economics. Dr Suthar has presented her research at various international and national conferences. Some of these include presentations at Econometric Society Annual Meetings, Eurasia Business and Economics Society, Nepal Rastra Bank, University of Economics in Bratislava and the Indian Econometric Society. She has been an Academic Visitor to University of Cambridge, UK and a Visiting Fellow to Wolfson College, University of Cambridge, UK. Her publications include a book titled Monetary Policy in Macroeconomic Management: An Indian Perspective and research articles in various journals and edited volumes.
Dr Suthar started her teaching career in 1999 as a lecturer of Economics at H.L. Institute of Commerce, which later became a constituent of Ahmedabad University. She has been with Ahmedabad University since its inception in 2009. During these years, she has been extensively involved in academic administration. Her contribution to the field of teaching and development of the University was recognized with the Excellence in Teaching Award in 2016. She has been a member of the University Board of Management since 2014 and Controller of Examinations since 2015.
