Importance of Trust in Leadership
Ravi Kant is a highly accomplished CEO and Vice Chairman who has significantly contributed to the success of the Indian multinational company TATA MOTORS (TML). Under his leadership, TATA MOTORS achieved incredible feats, such as creating the revolutionary low-cost passenger vehicle Nano and commercial vehicle ACE, which transformed the market.
In addition, Mr Kant led the acquisition of Daewoo trucks in Korea and the iconic British brands Jaguar and Land Rover.
Mr Kant has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills throughout his career by turning around a loss-making scooter company, rejuvenating a stagnant consumer electronics business, and creating a highly valued Indian fashion accessory brand. He has also chaired and held seats on several Tata company boards and currently sits on the boards of Vedanta Ltd and Kone, Helsinki, as well as US-based non-profit organizations Enactus and Wonder Work.
Mr Kant is also involved in several advisory boards, including the Indian Institute of Management Rohtak, the business schools at IIT Kharagpur and IIT Mumbai, the National Institute of Design, and the CGIO of the Business School at the National University of Singapore. He has also chaired the Advertising Standards Council of India, the Audit Bureau of Circulation, and the Society of Indian Automobiles Manufacturers.
Mr Kant’s educational background includes studying at Mayo College, Ajmer, receiving his Bachelor of Technology in Metallurgical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and a Master of Science in Management Techniques in Industry from Aston University in the UK. He has received several awards, including the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Indian Institute of Technology and an honorary Doctor of Science from Aston University. Ravi is also an honorary Industrial Professor at the University of Warwick in the UK.
Mr Kant has been a sought-after speaker on marketing, business, and leadership throughout his career. His contributions to the field of business have earned him several accolades and awards.
