Ahmedabad University's Professor Ramadhar Singh Conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Indian Academy of Management
The Indian Academy of Management (INDAM)--an affiliate of the Academy of Management, USA--bestowed the INDAM Lifetime Achievement Award on Ramadhar Singh, Distinguished University Professor, Amrut Mody School of Management on January 12, 2024. At the 9th Annual Conference held at the Goa Institute of Management, Sattari, Goa, the INDAM Award Committee appreciated Professor Singh’s dedication and years of contributions to management education in India, noting, “Many of the current generation of Professors in different management institutes in India and abroad have benefitted from your guidance, care, training, and advice.”
Ramadhar Singh (the 1973 PhD in social psychology and the 2022 Distinguished Alumnus in Psychological Sciences of Purdue University, USA) is a fellow of six professional bodies of psychology, including the American Psychological Association (1993), the British Psychological Society (1992), and the Singapore Psychological Society (1993). The Association for Psychological Science and the Society for Personality and Social Psychology of Washington DC, USA included him among the Faces and Minds of Psychological Science (2013) and inducted him on the Heritage Wall of Fame (2022) from India, respectively. His research conducted at the levels of individual, group, organisation, and society has been cited across disciplines.
Ramadhar Singh received his BA Hons (1965) and MA (1968) degrees in experimental psychology from the L S College of Bihar University at Muzaffarpur. He had previously served as a lecturer at Patna University (1968-1973), an assistant professor at IIT Kanpur (1973-79), a professor at IIM Ahmedabad (1979-1988), and the distinguished professor at IIM Bangalore (2010-16) in India and as a professor of psychology at the National University of Singapore (NUS: 1997-2010). He spent his sabbaticals from NUS at the University of Rochester, New York, USA (2003-04), the University of Oxford, UK (2004), and the Purdue University (2008). The IIM Indore bestowed upon him the first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Research in 2021, and the IIT Kanpur established an annual Prabha and Ramadhar Singh Distinguished Lecture in Psychology in 2022.
