Science Journalists Association of India (SJAI) Conference 2025

(SJAI) Conference 2025

Ahmedabad University will host, in collaboration with the Science Journalists Association of India (SJAI), the third edition of the annual SJAI Conference. The gathering will bring together journalists, researchers, communicators, educators, and policymakers to examine how science journalism can strengthen public understanding and trust in science.

This year’s theme, Science Solutions Journalism in a Fragmented World, calls for a renewed approach to science storytelling that not only identifies problems but also highlights credible, evidence-based responses. In an age of information overload and deepening divides, the conference will ask how journalists, academics, and communicators can work together to make science communication both accurate and actionable.

Through panels, workshops, and case discussions, participants will explore how thoughtful, data-driven storytelling can bridge divides between research and policy, experts and citizens, science and society. Sessions will invite reflection on questions such as:

  • How can solutions journalism reshape science reporting during times of crisis, from climate change to public health?
  • How can transparency and local storytelling rebuild public trust in science?
  • What lessons can Indian journalists, educators, and researchers offer about narratives that inspire civic engagement and collective responsibility?

Ahmedabad, a city that has long served as a bridge between ideas, regions, and disciplines, provides the setting for these conversations. The conference aims to reimagine how science journalism can not only inform but also enable change.

Date: Monday-Tuesday, November 3-4, 2025
