Redefining Gender: Transgressive Thinking and Subversive Solidarities
An online symposium on ‘Redefining Gender: Transgressive Thinking and Subversive Solidarities’ is being organised jointly by Denison University and Ahmedabad University on September 21, 2022. It will be chaired by Keun-joo Christine Pae (Religion, Denison). Manomohini Dutta, Assistant Professor in the Humanities and Languages division of the School of Arts and Sciences, will present on ‘Rethinking Women’s Rights to Property in Hindu Legal Traditions’. Jue Liang (Religion, Denison) will present on ‘A Buddhist Argument for Gender Equality’. Leya Mathew, Assistant Professor in the Social Sciences division of the School of Arts and Sciences, will present on ‘Refusing Freedom, Happiness, Gayness’ while Barbara Fultner (Philosophy and Women’s and Gender Studies, Denison) will present on ‘#NiUnaMenos, not #MeToo: A Transnational Feminist Perspective’. Each of the four professors will speak about the topic for about 10 minutes before a roundtable discussion and questions.
The online symposium is co-sponsored by the School of Arts and Sciences, Ahmedabad University, and Denison University International Studies Program, Departments of Religion, Women’s and Gender Studies, and Philosophy.
