Project demonstration and Client handover for the project titled “Mobile App for Heritage Sites in Gujarat” was successfully done to Shri S J Haider (IAS), Secretary, Tourism, Devsthanam Management & Pilgrimage, Government of Gujarat by team of School of Computer Studies (SCS) and Centre for Heritage Management (CHM), Ahmedabad University.
Android and iPhone App to promote heritage sites in Gujarat was developed for Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL). The project has been designed and developed under the guidance of Shri C K Koshy, IAS (Retd), Chief Executive, Centre for Heritage Management and Prof. Bipin Mehta, Director, School of Computer Studies by team of faculty -Dr. Aditya Patel, SCS, Ms. Santana Pathak, CHM and MCA students of School of Computer Studies.
Mobile App (Android and iPhone)
The Mobile App provide enrichhing experience of monuments/heritage sites of Gujarat to tourists /general public.Tourist can search/explore heritage sites of Gujarat according to city, category and name of the heritage site. App pprovides detailed information of all heritage sites like image gallery, description, address, history, time to visit, best way to reach, nearest hotels, airport and railway information. The App also provides integration with Google Map so that tourist can find the travel route from their current location to the desired heritage site. Unique functionality provided is that tourists can plan their Itinerary and and shortlist the heritage sites that they are interested to visit. The App will suggest optimized travel route covering all the places in Map view with distance and time information.
The Mobile App (Android and iPhone) is designed and developed for Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL) by Centre for Heritage Management (CHM) and School of Computer Studies (SCS), Ahmedabad University. The Mobile App was officially launched by Shri Saurabhbhai Patel, Minister for Tourism, Govt. of Gujarat in the seminar on “Role of ICT in Tourism Promotion” organized by Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL) and FICCI on 27th September, 2015.
The Mobile App for Heritage Sites in Gujarat provides enriching experience of heritage sites in Gujarat and helps in promotion of heritage and tourism. Some of the unique features of the mobile app are –detailed information of heritage sites with image gallery, location of heritage sites on Map, view nearest heritage sites on Map, hotels, airports and railway information, latest news and events by Gujarat Tourism.
The most innovative feature of the app is – plan your itinerary – which allows tourists to shortlist the heritage sites and create their custom itinerary. The app suggests the best travel route to the tourists on the map from his current location, which is optimized based on distance and time optimization algorithm implemented in the app.
The Mobile App titled Gujarat’s Heritage is freely available for the general public/tourists to download from the App stores.
