Professor Minal Pathak is presently employed as Senior Scientist with the Technical Support Unit of Working Group III (Mitigation) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). She is also a member on the IPCC’s recently established international Task Group on Gender. She coordinates activities at the Global Centre for Environment and Energy at Ahmedabad University. Prior to this, she was Associate Professor in the Faculty of Planning at CEPT University, Ahmedabad. Her research focuses on low carbon cities, scenarios assessment, transportation decarbonization and urban resilience. She has over two dozen peer reviewed publications including articles, book chapters and technical reports. She has worked jointly with multi-country teams on the Deep Decarbonization Pathways for India sponsored by IDDRI, France and SDSN, Low Carbon Transport with UNEP DTU, Low Carbon Scenarios for Ahmedabad City with researchers from IGES Japan, UTM Malaysia, AIT Thailand and Indonesia. She is a lead author on the forthcoming Second Assessment Report on Climate Change and Cities coordinated by Columbia University’s Earth Institute.
Professor Pathak holds a PhD and MS in Environmental Science. She is a Visiting Researcher at Imperial College London and has held visiting scholar positions at the Department of Urban Studies and Planning, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johor Bahru.Back
