Ahmedabad University offers access to the Imaging and Cytometry facility for usage of specialised instruments at its campus. This facility was established at the University in 2023 with funding support from the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), under the SAHAJ scheme. The facility is open to all users across the country and is easily accessible through our booking system. The University also conducts training workshops at regular intervals to train users in flow cytometry and confocal microscopy at the SAHAJ facility.
The following instruments are available for use at the facility
Becton Dickinson FACS Aria 3 cell sorter
This is a 4-laser cell sorter equipped with the following lasers: 405 nm (Violet), 488 nm (Blue), 561 nm (Yellow Green), 640 nm (Red). The instrument is capable of 10-colour cell analysis and sorting. The sorter is capable of sorting maximum 70,000 events/second.
Beckman Coulter Cytoflex LX cell analyser
This is a 4-laser flow cytometer equipped with the following lasers: 375 nm (Near UV), 405 nm (Violet), 488 nm (Blue), and 638 nm (Red). This instrument is capable of 14-colour analysis. The instrument is also equipped with a violet laser side scatter and is thus well-suited for analysing sub-micron particles like small bacteria, viruses, extracellular vesicles, and nanoliposomes, among others.
Olympus FV3000 confocal microscope
This is a confocal microscope equipped with four lasers and two spectral detectors. The instrument has the following lasers: 405 nm (Violet), 488 nm (Blue), 561 nm (Yellow Green), and 638 nm (Red).
