Subhash Rajpurohit Selected to Equal Opportunities Initiative Committee of European Society for Evolutionary Biology

Associate Professor at the School of Arts and Sciences and Ramanujan Fellow Subhash Rajpurohit has been selected to the Equal Opportunities Initiative committee of the European Society for Evolutionary Biology (ESEB). Professor Rajpurohit said, “I am honoured to be part of the ESEB initiative to encourage women in science, and make available opportunities for under-represented groups as well.”

Founded in 1987, ESEB is an academic body supporting the study of evolution. The ESEB Equal Opportunities Initiative committee addresses the challenge of under-representation of women and other groups in society and its field. It works toward ensuring equal opportunities in all activities and facets of our society and increasing awareness for the problem of under-represented groups. It produces ‘best practice guidelines’ for both ESEB as a society, the congress, and the journal to monitor status and progress of underrepresented groups in society and its field. The Committee also includes Anne Charmantier, Chair, CEFE, CNRS, France; Camila Beraldo, University of Helsinki, Finland; Michael Jennions, Australian National University, Australia; Kelley Leung, University of Groningen, Netherlands; and Öncü Marachi, University of Bielefeld, Germany.
