A doctoral candidate, Kamayani Vajpayee is a biotechnology graduate and has completed her Masters in Forensic Science from the University of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Her doctoral research mainly focuses on Human Identification using STR markers. She wants to study how the evidentiary value of highly degraded DNA - in a forensic setup - can be expanded for human identification purposes. She has worked on various projects where population-specific STR markers have been evaluated and analysed. Kamayani has been recognized as an INSA-SRFP Fellow for the year 2015.
