Harshad Mayekar is a postdoctoral fellow who thinks of insects as fascinating organisms! To him, they are not just speciose but significant contributors to our understanding in science. Still, the juvenile stages of insects remain under-appreciated compared to the winged adults. He got interested in colour variation at the pupal stage in butterflies during his PhD. How the sessile pupal stage responds to environmental heterogeneity was the central theme of his research and has remained so till now. Currently, he explores pupal responses (adaptive/non-adaptive) in fruit flies for his postdoctoral studies at the Experimental Ecology and Evolution (EEE) Lab.
