Aishwarya Joshi is a doctoral candidate at the division of Biological and Life Sciences, School of Arts and Sciences, fascinated by the structural intricacies of proteins that are involved in conferring antimicrobial resistance to bacteria. She spent the short timescale of my lab rotation trying to understand drug resistance mechanisms in Mycobacterium tuberculosis. She is intrigued by the possibility that minute alterations in current drugs (rendered obsolete by multidrug resistance) can lead to their efficient comeback in combat against infectious diseases.
