Urban Sociability: India Coffee House in the Middle Decades of the 20th Century

Dr Bhattacharya is Senior Research Fellow in the Centre for Modern Indian Studies (CeMIS) at University of Gӧttingen. She is the author of Much Ado over Coffee: Indian Coffee House Then and Now and publishes widely on the history of consumption and history of merchants in the Indian Ocean world. She has held fellowships at the International Institute of Social History (Amsterdam), Leiden University, and the Indian Council of Historical Research.
