Raag aur Rang: Hindustani Music Concert

Raag aur Rang: Hindustani Music Concert

Ahmedabad University, in collaboration with Mihir Thakore, invites you to a Hindustani Music Concert by young master Omkar Dadarkar, supported by a sparkling team of accompanists - Tejovrush Joshi (tabla), Sarwar Hussain (sarangi) and Anant Joshi (harmonium).

The concert promises an experience of ragas of the early and late night rendered by this group of musicians with impeccable training in the tradition, coupled with a modern sensibility.

Omkar Dadarkar comes from a family of Marathi Natyasangeet experts. He trained under his aunt Manik Verma initially and later under Ram Deshpande. He further honed his skills with Pt. Yashwantbua Joshi of the Gwalior Gharana tradition and received rigorous instruction from Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar at the I.T.C. Sangeet Research Academy. Now a faculty member there, Dadarkar has gained recognition as a concert performer in India and abroad, earning the prestigious Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar in 2010.

Tejovrush Joshi is much sought after for his tabla sangat. He is a disciple of the Late Bapusaheb Patwardhan of the Farrukhabad Gharana.

Sarwar Hussain trained under his grandfather Ustad Abdul Latif Khan, the legendary maestro and also his father Ustad Anwar Hussain.

Anant Joshi began learning with his father, Pt. Achyut Joshi, and trained further under Pt. Vishwanath Kanhere.
