Ahmedabad University (AU) encourages high quality research through doctoral degree programmes.  The doctoral degree programme at the School of Engineering and Technology (SEAS), AU, offers an inter-disciplinary exposure to research.  SEAS is actively involved in a process of building networks and partnerships with leading institutes enabling scholars to work with peers across the world.  Assistantships are awarded to PhD scholars according to University norms.

School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS), Ahmedabad University, invites applications for the doctoral program, in:

 

  1. Information & Communication Technology (ICT), covering the broad areas of
    • Communication and Signal Processing
    • Computer Science and Engineering
    • VLSI Systems
  2. Chemical Engineering (ChE), covering broadly the areas of
    • Applied Chemistry
    • Chemical Engineering & Materials Engineering

Eligibility: BE / BTech / ME / MTech / MSc with a minimum of 55% marks

Selection Process:

  • Candidates who have qualified for the CSIR-UGC-NET examination will have to appear for an interview,
  • Candidates who have taken the GATE examination will be shortlisted based on their score being above a specified minimum which will be decided by Ahmedabad University; shortlisted candidates will have to appear for an interview,
  • Candidates who have not qualified through the above examinations will be shortlisted based on the marks obtained in their immediately preceding degree (qualifying degree); shortlisted candidates will have to appear for an interview.

If you have a GATE score

If you have NOT qualified for the  CSIR-UGC-NET and do not have a GATE score, then your Qualifying Degree must be

ICT

Acceptable Areas of the CSIR-UGC-NET examination: Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences

Acceptable Papers of the GATE examination: Computer Science and Information Technology (CS), Electrical, Electronics & Communications Engineering (EC), Electrical Engineering (EE), Instrumentation Engineering (IN).

BE/BTech/ME/MTech/MSc in Computer Science or Mathematics, Information Technology, Information and Communication Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering; any other degree may be accepted  solely at AU discretion.

ChE

Acceptable Areas of the CSIR-UGC-NET examination: Chemical Sciences

Acceptable Papers of GATE examination: Chemical Engineering (CH), Chemistry (CY), Metallurgical Engineering (MT), Petroleum Engineering (PE), Engineering Sciences (XE)

BE/BTech/ME/MTech/MSc in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Nanotechnology, Chemistry; any other degree may be accepted solely at AU discretion.

 

Admission Schedule: 

The schedule of the admission process is as follows:

Admissions open:  December 5, 2016

Last date to receive applications at SEAS, AU:  December 26, 2016

Date of Interviews :  December 28, 2016
