Performing and Visual Arts

The School of Arts and Sciences at Ahmedabad University is seeking to appoint four Assistant Professors, two Associate Professors and one Professor in Performing and Visual Arts. Our teaching and research base will include Dance, Theatre, Music, Painting, Sculpture, Design, Graphics, Photography and Sound. At this stage, we are not defining areas of specialisation, but will in time move to clusters of expertise as the faculty develops. We are seeking both practitioners and theorists in the applied arts. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing school in India at a new private university with a public ethos. We are in the process of designing and creating a new building, the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts.

Applicants must have a masters degree or equivalent from an institution with global recognition. A doctorate or equivalent qualification would be an added advantage. Appointees will be expected to have an existing record of excellence and potential, commensurate with their appointment level and stage of career. They will be expected to provide evidence of excellence as demonstrated by exhibitions, publications, performances, research or other forms of assessment that indicate an emerging record of accomplishment. We welcome applicants in Performing and Visual Arts who are able to combine theory with practice.
