Payel Chattopadhyay Mukherjee has a PhD in Humanities and Social Sciences from the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar in 2016. She was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the same Institute where she has worked on Homelessness and issues of citizenship with her collaborator and mentor Rosa M. Perez from ISCTE-UL Lisbon, Portugal. She has a UGC NET-JRF in Literature and her academic interests are in Cosmopolitanism, South Asian literature, Subaltern, and Postcolonial theories. She has written for several scholarly publications including Routledge Research in Postcolonial Literatures, South Asian Review, Journal of Human Values, The Book Review and has presented her research at prestigious academic forums like The European Association for Commonwealth Literature and Language Studies (EACLALS), The South Asian Literary Association (SALA), and Association for Asian Studies (AAS) to name a few. She is the recipient of the prestigious Graduate Paper Prize at South Asian Literary Association (SALA), Chicago, USA and has recently been awarded the Director’s gold medal for overall outstanding performance among all PhD candidates at IIT Gandhinagar.
