Dr Krishna Swamy will join the Division of Biological and Life Sciences of Ahmedabad University in December 2018. He holds a Masters degree in Physics from Pune University. After a brief stint as a biologist at Molecular Biophysics Unit, IISc, he moved to the Institute of Information Science, Academia Sinica in Taiwan. Here, he completed his PhD in computational biology in 2012, and later transitioned into experimental biology as a Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Molecular Biology. Dr Swamy’s research interest lies in combining theoretical and experimental approaches to uncover the general principles underlying the evolution of novel phenotypes and how these affect the fitness of the organism across various environments. He is also interested in developing methods to infer the evolutionary history of the emergence of new phenotypes from genomic and transcriptomic data.
