The doctoral degree programme at the biological and life sciences fdivision an unparalleled research experience to students with a stimulating interdisciplinary programme. With its well-equipped laboratories and global partnerships, it offers unique opportunities for researchers to engage in the meaningful study of solutions to global challenges in the life sciences.
Our focus areas are currently at the cutting edge of nano-bio interfaces. Specialisations include nanobiotechnology, nanomedicine, nanotoxicology, environmental biotechnology, stem cell biology, bioinformatics and bioengineering). Our goal is to create knowledge that will enrich human and environmental life.
Candidates must have a first class (60% and above) or equivalent graduating mark in MSc/MTech degrees in any of the following: biochemistry, microbiology, biotechnology, botany, zoology, chemistry, life sciences, nanotechnology, toxicology, bioinformatics, environmental science, environmental engineering, biomedical engineering, bioengineering, forensic sciences (biology/chemistry) or an equivalent degree in subjects related to biological sciences.
All candidates with first class in a relevant masters degree are encouraged to apply. Shortlisted candidates will be required to take a written test, passing which they will be required to give a final interview. The dates of the written test and interview will be announced after the last date of application to the PhD programme.
NET-JRF qualified candidates (CSIR/UGC/ICMR/DBT/DST INSPIRE) are exempt from the written test and will be required to appear directly for the interview. Candidates with valid fellowships from equivalent state and national level fellowships are also encouraged to apply. The final dates of the interview will be communicated after the last date of application to the PhD programme. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview for selection. No TA/DA will be provided to candidates for appearing in the interview.
