The Centre for Heritage Management was invited by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India to participate as one of the experts in a Brainstorming Meeting on the Science and Heritage Research Initiative (SHRI), on 29-30 September 2019, held at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. The meeting was organised to decide further actions and strategies of SHRI. Professor Subhash Rajpurohit, Professor Aditya Kanth and Mr Vijay Ramchandani represented Ahmedabad University and presented on the topics of ‘Science for Understanding Biological Growth Challenges to Heritage’, ‘Prospects of Developing Conservation Materials and Treatment Methodologies’ and ‘Role of Technology in Safeguarding of Crafts’ respectively. An extended abstract on ‘Possible Directions for Interdisciplinary Understanding of Heritage Values and Practices: Implications for Science and Technology’ by Professor Neel Kamal Chapagain was circulated in that forum since Professor Chapagain could not join the meeting in-person.
