Mr. Saumil Shah is currently Faculty at Amrut Mody School of Management, Ahmedabad University (AMSOM- AU)since 2012; with over 16 years of teaching experience. He teaches well-appreciated courses in Finance Area.

He lead the Project Based learning initiative of Ahmedabad University, wherein he lead students first from the undergraduate business programme and then from multiple- disciplines of the University on a project, where they worked with students of the ADE (Affordable Design Entrepreneurship)-India programmed of Olin and Babson Colleges, USA.

He also successfully ran the Global Entrepreneurial Sandbox, a virtual collaborative class where students from Ahmedbad University collaborate with students from Syracuse Univeristy, and Tsinghua University to develop business ideas

Prior to this stint in academics he was Head-Relations, Knowledge Academy and as part of the management team from 2008 and was involved from the formation of the company to scaling it up into a successful company. During the time at Knowledge Academy, he also used to teach courses on Ethics, Alt. Investments, etc. at Knowledge Academy and various other institutes as guest and visiting faculty. He also counseled students on ‘Entrepreneurship’ under the aegis of TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs)

Prior to 2008, he was associated with BKMIBA-HLBBA, as core faculty, in its formative years from July 2001 to 2008. Prior to academics, he has spent two years in the capital markets, before which a year was spent in the banking sector.

Graduating in B.Com, from H.L. College of Commerce, he has done his MBA from M. S. Univ. of Baroda.

He has qualified the National Stock Exchange’s (NSE’s) Certificate in Financial Market (NCFM) – Capital Market Modules and Derivatives Core Module; he has also cleared the Licentiate exam of Insurance Institute of India.

He has cleared the Level – I Exam of the CFA(US)

He was involve in the launch of the ‘Diploma in Capital Markets and Mutual Funds’ programme at H.L. Centre for Professional Education and was also course co-ordinator for the same.

He has presented a paper, ‘A Managerial Perspective on Economics of Information – Information Economics and the way ahead’ at the 36th Annual Conference of Gujarat Economic Association.

He has provided consultancy to SEWA (Self Employed Women’s Association) for formulating, a business plan for Manufacturing and Marketing of Traditional Medicines. He has also provided consultancy to International Financial Solutions Ltd. for Equity Derivatives Trading.

An avid reader, his areas of interest are Capital Markets and Behavioral Finance

He teaches well-appreciated courses in the Finance area, like Financial Managmement, Financial Markets and Financial Services

In the past, he taught a well-appreciated module on ‘Contemporary Issues in Business’ to the BBA (Hon) students, apart from his course in Finance Area.
